The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly disappointed on how the NBA handled a confrontation-turned-all-out brawl between All-Star centers Karl-Anthony Towns and Joel Embiid.

In a blowout home victory for the Philadelphia 76ers, Embiid and Towns threw punches and teammates had to restrain the two — with Towns subdued by a Ben Simmons chokehold. Both centers were ejected and levied with two-game suspensions.

Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Timberwolves organization was perplexed with the aftermath and punishment handed by the league.

“While we are disappointed in the league’s decision, we understand the magnitude of this unfortunate incident,” Timberwolves president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas said in a statement issued on Thursday evening. “The NBA is highly competitive and last night was a reflection of that. We support Karl and will move forward together as a group.”

Across social media, videos shared of the skirmish clearly showed the former Rookie of the Year point-forward Simmons choking Towns. However, Simmons was queerly absent from any suspensions handed out by the NBA.

Wednesday's contest with the Sixers was the Timberwolves' first loss on the young 2019-20 season.

Before last season and this one's two-game suspension, Towns — the first overall selection in the 2015 draft — had been an ironman of sorts. He appeared in every game for Minnesota through his first three seasons in the league. Now, Towns has a blemish on his NBA career and the Timberwolves are without their best player.
