On Wednesday, Karl-Anthony Towns hit the game-winning shot for the Minnesota Timberwolves against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Andrew Wiggins attempted a jumper right inside the key. It clanked out and went right to Towns, who, with 0.7 seconds left on the clock, hit a nasty turnaround shot that swished in.
This gave the Timberwolves a 99-97 win over the Grizzlies.
The Timberwolves were able to pull out the victory at home. Six players were in double digits on the night. Jarred Bayles was surprisingly the leading scorer with 19 points, seven rebounds, and 12 assists. He was only three rebounds away from corralling in a triple-double.
Towns also added 16 points and 10 rebounds on the evening. It was a poor shooting night for the team overall, only hitting on 38.3 percent of their shots. Fortunately for them, the clutch play from Towns bailed them out in the end.
Article Continues BelowFor the Grizzlies, only four people reached double digits. Mike Conley led the entire game in scoring, dropping 26 points, grabbing five rebounds, and dishing out seven assists. Marc Gasol also added 19 points with seven rebounds and five assists.
The team as a whole shot a bit better, shooting 41.4 percent from the field. However, they allowed eight more assists on the night with 18 total compared to the Timberwolves' low mark of ten.
The team, all season long, have struggled to find their identity. It took trading away Jimmy Butler and firing Tom Thibadeau for Towns to finally allow him to take on a larger role offensively.
The Timberwolves are now 25-26 and sit in the 11th seed of the NBA's Western Conference. They will face off next against the Denver Nuggets at home.
