The Minnesota Timberwolves lost to the Phoenix Suns on Saturday, but things could have been different had Karl-Anthony Towns not taken an ill-advised shot from way beyond the arc.

With the Suns leading 98-95, the Timberwolves had about 15 seconds to find the best shot and send the game to overtime. However, instead of distributing the ball and finding the perfect opportunity, Towns decided to take matters into his own hands and launched a potentially game-tying triple … from near mid-court.

Sure enough, the shot didn't go in and the Suns went on to close the game 100-98.

Of course, it is not guaranteed that the Timberwolves would be able to find an open man or create a high-percentage shot during that situation. However, shooting from half court is certainly not the best option either.

Towns has been efficient from deep for the Timberwolves, averaging a 44.3 percent 3-point shooting clip heading to Saturday's matchup. Nonetheless, there's no doubt his decision making in crunch time is questionable.

The All-Star center did finish with a monster double-double of 31 points and 17 rebounds though, while Andrew Wiggins chipped in 21 markers on top of four board and three dimes.

For the Suns, Devin Booker was sensational once again, putting up a near triple-double of 35 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists.
