Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis has been ruled out for Tuesday night's game against the Indiana Pacers as he battles an ankle injury.

Davis has been popping up on the injury report as of late due to a shoulder ailment, one that he is presumably still battling Tuesday, in addition to the ankle injury. Despite any adverse effects, Davis has averaged 30.4 points per game in the month of December on 54 percent shooting overall, performing at an All-NBA rate. Before he was officially ruled out, Lakers coach Frank Vogel called him a gametime decision on Tuesday.

With Davis out, the Lakers will presumably be forced to play small with most of their lineups, as Jared Dudley could serve as the de facto power forward. In crunch time, the duo of Dwight Howard and Javale McGee may share the court, in addition to LeBron James seeing additional duties on the glass throughout the game.

Even with the attention surrounding Davis' myriad ailments, he has missed only one game all season going into Tuesday, and averaged 34.7 minutes on a nightly basis. Coupled with the fact that James has not yet missed a game in his own right, the Lakers have utilized the time on the floor of their superstar duo to kick off the year with a 24-3 record coming into play Tuesday, the best mark in the league. His next chance at returning comes Thursday against Milwaukee.
