Anytime that an NBA player gets mentioned in the same sentence as Michael Jordan, it's likely that the statistic in question is impressive. The latest stylings of Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic in fact confirm that, as he collected his 18th consecutive game with at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists during Saturday's blowout win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
That streak matches Jordan for the most since the NBA/ABA merger, while Oscar Robertson holds the all-time mark for 29 consecutive contests.
Doncic ultimately finished with 26 points, nine assists and six rebounds to his credit, despite being needed for only 26 minutes of the victory. A string of games that began on Nov. 1 has seen him proliferate his already impressive offensive numbers, moving him firmly into the MVP discussion. His next chance to extend the streak comes Sunday when he takes on the Sacramento Kings in the second leg of the team's back-to-back.

Jordan did not claim the MVP Award that season, but did finish by leading the league in scoring with 32.5 points per game, in addition to adding 8.0 assists and 8.0 rebounds on a nightly basis. Conversely, Doncic enters play Sunday averaging 30.3 points, 10.1 rebounds and 9.2 assists per game.
No matter the historical comparisons, what can be said without question is that Luka Doncic is playing at an elite level not for just a 20-year-old, but for any age. With his role in the Dallas offense, there's no telling when his streak may come to a close.
