Atlanta Hawks All-Star point guard Trae Young had a very focused comparison when he was coming out of Oklahoma and into the NBA draft process two years ago. The former Sooner was possibly unfairly compared to three-time NBA champion and two-time MVP point guard Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

Free-agent point guard Isaiah Thomas responded to retired NBA center Kendrick Perkins on Twitter on Tuesday evening, justifying the comparison between Curry and Young, with the 21-year-old earning an All-Star selection much earlier in his career than the champion floor general.

Thomas, 31, a two-time All-Star himself, replied to Perkins by saying the two are “[definitely] comparable but The [sic] game is so different from Steph[‘s] 2nd year to Trae[‘s] 2nd year.”

Thomas was responding to Perkins' claim that Young is far better than Curry due to the two point guards' respective development in the Association by their sophomores seasons. Thomas, waived by the Los Angeles Clippers after a three-team trade with the New York Knicks at the trade deadline on Feb. 6 saw the former Washington Wizards guard become a free agent, defended Curry.

The Warriors star dominated college competition on Davidson similar to Young's collegiate days in Norman, Oklahoma. Thomas talked to Perkins bout how the NBA has changed in the decade since the former seventh-overall pick's rookie season in the Bay Area.

Perkins has been plastered all over social media in the last year since the former Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder center joined ESPN as a commentator, drawing polarizing reactions with his numerous hot-takes.
