It was early this year when Panini released the latest edition of their NBA Hoops brand. Since then, the company has come out with several products that feature this season's hottest rookies, like Donruss and Donruss Elite. And while basketball cards from these sets have been bonkers in the market lately, things will be taken up a notch as Panini's newest Origins makes its way to collectors and investors alike.
Panini's latest Origins basketball set was just released a few days ago. We take a good look at this brand, what card enthusiasts can expect from it, and if it's a good set to invest in.
Panini Origins Basketball Card Set: The Basics
Now in its third year, Panini's Origins set for basketball card collectors has taken things to a new level. It has a 90-base card set that features the brand's distinct colorful design with the player front and center. These base cards have 10 rarer variations, which include the likes of LeBron James, Luka Doncic, Cade Cunningham, and Evan Mobley, among others.

Each hobby box is currently being sold for $500 in the market with a single pack of seven cards inside it. Collectors have a chance of hitting two parallels or inserts and 2 autographs or relics when purchasing a hobby box. Those who go for the more expensive First Of The Line (FOTL) boxes have it better with the chance of hitting a rookie auto and parallel purple, both numbered to 49 copies, along with another auto and parallel or insert.
Inserts and Autos
Since the number of cards found inside each Origins hobby box is limited, hitting an insert or auto is very likely. Among those that can be pulled from this product are Big Bang and the case-hit Origination.
The latter features Origins' well-known look and takes it to another level by averaging only one per case. Collectors can go case hunting for the likes of Stephen Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Nikola Jokic, among others.

Those who prefer autos will be spoiled with Origins. Panini offers several of these in a hobby box, which includes Award-Winning, Legendary, and Origins Autographs Silver Ink, which features the latest batch of rookies in the NBA. And as has been the case with Panini, there'll be shorter-print parallels of these autos, which guarantees them to be more valuable in the market.
Rookie cards
While the parallels, inserts, and autos of established vets in the NBA are great to have, the real deal will always be the rookie cards and patch autos of today's young stars. In this regard, Panini Origins won't disappoint.
Apart from the parallel rookie cards, which include the Black One of One, collectors can chase sets like Rookie Autographs, Rookie Jersey Autographs, Rookie Auto Booklet Patch, and the short-printed Six Signatures Set. The latter, of course, is the highlight here as a single card contains six signatures from top rookies belonging to the current draft class.
Origins is an amazing set that can fill the gap before Panini releases its flagship chrome products, like Prizm and Select. It can also scratch the itch of most collectors before the high-end sets start rolling in, like the latest Impeccable brand. In any case, these basketball cards will give buyers a solid chance to hit their targets in the hobby, even land that one insane pull that can change everything.
