As Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis continues to get injury updates, he's also currently in the midst of a plethora of rumors surrounding him regarding being traded this season. While the rumors around Davis will continue, one team that could check in on his status is the New York Knicks.

In SNY's Ian Begley and his latest column, answering people's questions on New York, one would ask the reporter if the team will look to address the need for a rim protector at the trade deadline. After mentioning a few options, he would shift the discussion to Davis, saying that the team “would at least check in” with the expectation that the big man would be available.

“This is stating the obvious, but I’m sure the Knicks would at least check in with Dallas if/when Anthony Davis becomes available,” Begley wrote. “You may scoff at the idea, but the Knicks want to win a title this season. If Dallas is offering Davis at a below-market cost, I’m sure the Knicks will at least give the move some thought. But this, again, is stating the obvious. The Mavs will get calls from nearly all NBA teams if/when they make Davis available.”

Though it's been reported that the Mavericks will explore a trade market for Davis, there's been some pushback back like Mark Cuban shutting down any notion of that taking place. However, insider Marc Stein would say that Dallas does “still intend to field any trade interest” around Davis.

“League sources say that the Mavericks still intend to field any trade interest in Davis that emerges over the next two-plus months with the prospect of an actual trade obviously dependent on offer quality,” Stein wrote. “Davis, remember, has only been healthy enough to appear in 14 of 48 regular-season games since becoming a Maverick due to serious adductor and calf setbacks.”

It remains to be seen if Davis gets dealt, but all eyes will be on the trade deadline if anything happens.
