Nikola Vucevic and the Magic are off to a surprising 9-8 start. First-year head coach Steve Clifford has connected with the players well and has them playing hard on both ends of the floor.
Vucevic has been one of the most underrated players in the NBA for years now. The 28-year-old is having another solid season, as he's putting up 20.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 17 games while shooting 55.6 percent from the field, 45.2 percent from beyond the arc and 81.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Anthony Davis, meanwhile, is in the early MVP discussion. The Chicago native is averaging 27.5 points, 12.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists for the 9-7 Pelicans. The Brow is shooting 48.0 percent from the field, 36.7 percent from the 3-point line and 79.2 percent from the charity stripe. Few players have made a bigger impact on their teams this season than Davis, whose Pelicans have a +10.7 net rating when he’s on the court and a -13.7 rating when he sits, per NBA.com.
