The New Orleans Pelicans dropped to 1-5 on the season with 115-104 loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry was disappointed with the way his guys handled the basketball:
This obviously is not the recipe for success for stealing a game on the road. Gentry's numbers were slightly off, as the Pelicans committed 16 turnovers on the night, leading to 21 points for Oklahoma City.
It was a close game throughout before OKC pulled away late in the fourth. Lonzo Ball committed a team-high five turnovers, while Jahlil Okafor had four giveaways of his own. Okafor committed three of his four turnovers in the fourth, including a couple down the stretch that proved to be detrimental for New Orleans.
After a promising offseason, New Orleans has struggled out of the gate. Much of the hype surrounding this team was dampened due to the injury to Zion Williamson, who has yet to make his regular-season debut. Moreover, the Pelicans also lost leading scorer Brandon Ingram due to a head injury on Saturday.
The Pelicans will have to look into some film to fix their turnover issues in order to turn their season around.
