The New Orleans Pelicans will be shorthanded on Wednesday when they face the Memphis Grizzlies as their star big man, Anthony Davis, will be forced to remain of the sidelines. He is unable to play as he is still recovering from an ankle injury he suffered on Monday in their game versus the Detroit Pistons, according to Daniel Sallerson of Pelicans.com.
Head Coach Alvin Gentry says Anthony Davis (right ankle sprain) won't play tonight vs. Grizzlies. Dante Cunningham will start in his place.

During the third quarter, he tweaked his ankle and was forced to go directly to their locker room. He did not return to the game as tests were immediately done to check if there's structural damage and to find out the exact extent of the injury. If there's any good news at this point for the New Orleans faithful, X-rays came back negative and he is only diagnosed with a sprain. However, it is still unclear when he'll be able to return to action as Davis is still receiving a lot of treatment on his ankle from team trainers.

They currently own a 20-19 record, good for eighth place in the tough Western Conference, and are expected to be in a dog fight for one of the last spots for the postseason.
DeMarcus Cousins should once again carry majority of the scoring load against the Grizzlies, but will have his hands full with Marc Gasol defending him. The Pelicans center has been a force this seasonthough and will look to dominate on the night to try and give his team their third win in four games.
