The New Orleans Pelicans made a splash this offseason with their acquisition of young players and assets in the trade with the Los Angeles Lakers for big man Anthony Davis. Now, it appears they will soon be able to officially welcome forward Brandon Ingram and point guard Lonzo Ball back onto the court.

Both players have been dealing with health concerns this offseason. However, according to Scott Kushner of The Times-Picayune, they each indicated that they are nearing their return.

Ingram and Ball both say they're not fully recovered from injuries at this point but expect to be back “soon”.

Their comments echo the same claim made by Pelicans executive vice president David Griffin last week. Griffin gave encouraging updates on both of their recoveries, though he did indicate that Ingram was more ahead of the curve than Ball was.

The 2018-19 NBA season was cut short for Ingram after he was diagnosed with blood clots in his shooting arm in early March. While there had been plenty of speculations regarding the timetable for the 21-year-old, it is safe to say that he will be able to take part in offseason activities with New Orleans.

Meanwhile, Ball has not played since suffering an ankle sprain back in January. The Pelicans seem to be taking a cautious approach with his recovery moving forward.

It is no secret that New Orleans has ushered in a bit of a youth movement, and they will need each piece of their promising, young core to be healthy if they hope to get on the same page once the 2019-20 NBA season rolls around.
