New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram is close to doing normal workouts with his new team heading into training camp for the 2019-20 NBA season.
According to ESPN, Ingram revealed during an introductory press conference that he is “pretty close” to resuming normal workouts after a season-ending condition earlier this year. The 21-year-old forward missed the latter part of the previous season after he was diagnosed with a deep venous thrombosis in March.
Ingram said that he has been recovering well from the surgery that addressed a blood clot in his right arm. However, he has yet to perform shooting drills in the past several weeks but has been participating in ball handling and passing drills. He also revealed that he is making a conscious effort to improve his lower-body strength.

The former Duke University standout is coming off the most productive season of his young NBA career. While he was limited to just 52 games, he averaged career-highs 18.3 points on 49.7 percent shooting from the field on top of 5.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers traded the former second overall pick earlier in the offseason to the Pelicans along with Josh Hart and Lonzo Ball. In return, Los Angeles, who also had to surrender three first-round picks in the deal, acquired Anthony Davis, who will be teaming up with fellow superstar LeBron James in purple and gold.
