The NBA world was shaken by the season-ending Achilles injury to New Orleans Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins. As a result, players and coaches throughout the league have since offered Cousins their prayers and best wishes. Among them is former college teammate and Washington Wizards point guard John Wall.

According to Candace Buckner of the Washington Post, Wall admitted that Cousins' injury really struck a nerve with him.

“That really hurt me. He’s having a hell of a year. To be an all-star starter and then something like that happened, it’s the most frustrating part.”

Wall added that the prospect of watching Cousins succeed has been the hardest part of hearing about the injury.
“It hurt me more than it probably hurt him because I like to see people conquer. You never want to see people go through anything like that.”
As many are aware, Wall and Cousins' relationship goes way back to when they were just a couple of blue-chip teammates at Kentucky. Their friendship is well-known throughout the league. So much so, that there were even rumors about Wall potentially recruiting the Pelicans center to the Wizards this summer.
Unfortunately, the devastating injury to Cousins has now raised questions about his market value as a free agent after the season. Prior to Friday night, there was little doubt that the star center would receive a max offer from a number of teams.
Cousins had been in the midst of a truly historic career en route to being named as a starter for the 2018 NBA All-Star Game. Through 48 games, he averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per contest.
