For the past few weeks, New Orleans Pelicans players have been regularly attending voluntary workouts at the team's facility. From Lonzo Ball's observation, this attitude — coupled with the talent in the team– gives the Pels a chance to be good.
Per Pelicans reporter Jim Eichenhofer, Ball is confident about his team's chances this year and in the next few seasons. While he admitted they have to start early as a relatively new team, Ball points out his belief that they have the talent to succeed.
Article Continues Below“I think we have a chance (to be good). We have a lot of talent. We have a new team, where people have got to get to know each other, so we’ve got to start a little earlier,” Ball said, referring to one reason Pelicans players were motivated to participate.
The Pelicans team comprises of several newcomers. Ball, Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart arrived from the Los Angeles Lakers in the Anthony Davis trade, while JJ Redick and Derrick Favors were signed in free agency.
They also have three incoming rookies, headed by 2019 top pick Zion Williamson, lottery pick Jaxson Hayes (No.8) and mid first-rounder Nickeil-Alexander Walker (No.17).
New Orleans undoubtedly has the tools to succeed, though it's clear they still have plenty of work to do to reach their full potential.
