This is the first time the Pelicans landed the first overall pick since 2012 when they selected Anthony Davis. Safe to say that the Pelicans won't waste their pick this year. They are expected to draft Duke star Zion Williamson, who is the consensus No.1 pick of the 2019 NBA Draft.

It's a great turnout for the Pelicans, considering the drama they went through the season. To recall, Davis requested for a trade in January — which pretty much put the team's future at a standstill. The issue escalated when New Orleans decided no to trade Davis request amid attractive offers from the Los Angeles Lakers. This created an awkward predicament as Davis was forced to play out the rest of the season.

Rumors reveal that Davis has no intentions of rescinding his trade request. Now, various analysts believe that teams will not just go after Davis, but also for the first overall pick which will likely be Williamson. Whether these rumors and predictions are true or not, it's safe to assume that it'll be an interesting offseason either way.
