The New Orleans Pelicans have a lot of moving parts heading into the second half of the season. They have been without star Zion Williamson all season, who has spent the better half of a year recovering from foot surgery. The team also acquired shooting guard CJ McCollum this week. He was the Trail Blazers' sole member who came to New Orleans in exchange for Josh Hart and draft compensation.

Now that the 2022 NBA Trade Deadline is in the past, the Pelicans can start focusing on the future of their young team. According to RealGM, there is no clear timeline for the return of Williamson.

Pelicans VP David Griffin said that they still don't “have enough information” to update the public on the power forward's return.

In the next week or two, Williamson will undergo more medical imaging to get more information on the recovery of his foot fracture.

“We hope that toward the end of next week or the beginning of the following, we’ll have some imaging done and we’ll have a better update,” the VP said, quote courtesy of RealGM.

Meanwhile, McCollum is getting acclimated to his new team. After the trade, McCollum told the media that he was involved in the transaction. He wanted to play with the young talent on the Pelicans, specifically small forward Brandon Ingram.

Hopefully, McCollum will also get to play with Williamson sooner rather than later. During the beginning of his NBA career, the 21-year-old made a name for himself with outstanding stats, despite suffering multiple injuries.
