The New Orleans Pelicans have upgraded rookie Zion Williamson to available for Thursday's matchup against the Chicago Bulls, the Western Conference club announced on Wednesday night.

Williamson has appeared in seven games for the Pelicans this season. He's averaging 19.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 54.6 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from beyond the arc and 58.7 percent from the free throw line after missing much of his rookie season following knee surgery in the fall.

The Pelicans are 20-31 on the season. They are in 12th place in the Western Conference standings.

In his lone season at Duke, Williamson put on an absolute show. The forward averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 68.0 percent from the field, 33.8 percent from beyond the arc and 64.0 percent from the free throw line.

Zion, the first overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, signed a record rookie sneaker deal worth $75 million over five years with Jordan Brand. It’s sort of fitting that Williamson is with Jordan Brand. Jordan is arguably the greatest dunker of all time. Watching Williamson dunk with the Pelicans this season while wearing Jordan Brand shoes just seems right.
