It goes without saying that the New Orleans Pelicans have a big offseason ahead of them this summer. Among their notable key players set to hit the market is point guard Rajon Rondo.

History would suggest that the veteran could be seeking another one-year deal. However, according to John Gambadoro from ArizonaSports.com, Rondo is reportedly looking for a bit more long-term security:

The report should hardly come as any surprise. Rondo has become a bit of a journeyman ever since his tenure with the Boston Celtics came to an end. However, this is the first time he has been on a competitive team since Boston. This would suggest that he would potentially prefer New Orleans to offer him the deal.

Despite his recent travels, Rondo is still one of the more elite point guards in the NBA in terms of what he brings to both sides of the ball. His leadership also served as a stabilizing force for the Pelicans when center DeMarcus Cousins went down with a season-ending Achilles injury and through their impressive run in the playoffs. His playmaking ability makes him a seamless fit in the team's frontcourt-heavy scoring attack.

Of course, New Orleans has other factors to consider before offering Rondo a two-year deal. They have made it clear that they intend to bring back Cousins on a monster deal. Whether or not that helps them land more quality talent remains to be seen. Regardless, it will be interesting to see if Rondo ends up on his fifth team in five years.
