If you ask around who the best center in the league is, you will probably get a lot of DeMarcus Cousins answers.

The New Orleans Pelicans center has the stats to back it up. He is averaging 25.5 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. The dynamic duo of Cousins and Anthony Davis has propelled the Pelicans to a 22-20 record, which has been enough to make the team the sixth seed in the West.

Many argue that the Cousins experiment is not working effectively enough. The team is hovering around .500 throughout the season, despite having two of the most talented players in the league.

Rumors have started circling around that the Pelicans may not even keep Cousins. But Marc Stein has shared something different regarding the matter on Dunc'd On Basketball NBA Podcast.

“Most teams around the league think that the Pelicans will re-sign Cousins unless he doesn't want to stay there . . . I've heard Dallas and the Lakers . . . Those are teams expected to make a run at him.”

When you think about it, what Marc Stein said about the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers make sense.

These two teams are looking to get back into the spotlight.

The Mavs have good pieces in Harrison Barnes, Yogi Ferrell, and Dennis Smith Jr., but they don't have enough talent to bring the team to new heights — not in the formidable Western Conference.

The Lakers are a young, promising team with Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, and the forever-controversial Lonzo Ball. But things are not yet working out for them.

A dominant player like Cousins may be the very thing these teams need to have a chance in the Western Conference.

But even if these teams can make an offer to Cousins, will he even take it? Cousins may want to go to a team that can immediately contend. For all we know, he may stay with the Pelicans or go to a better team where he can actually win.
