While Anthony Davis and his camp have been loud and clear in their intent to land in Los Angeles, the New Orleans Pelicans superstar has left the door open for the New York Knicks, who recently opened two max slots' worth of cap space after trading their unicorn Kristaps Porzingis, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The Knicks reportedly tried to swing a deal for Davis before shipping Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks, but the Pelicans were uninterested in the latter, or any package New York would be able to offer.
That brought The Big Apple to become Plan B, which could force things in case the Lakers can't muster the right offer by the trade deadline.

Putting a generational talent of his caliber in any deal is always a game-changer, and one New Orleans would have a hard time passing on, as it could accelerate their rebuild tremendously.
Davis reportedly has no interest in the Boston Celtics, given the uncertainty that Kyrie Irving will re-sign with them in the offseason. But as it stands, they boast the most ready-made package for Davis — and are a huge reason as to why the Pelicans are patiently willing to wait until they enter the race and up the ante in the Davis sweepstakes.
