New York Knicks combo guard Damyean Dotson underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Watch Stadium.

Dotson is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

The Knicks drafted Dotson with the 44th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He played in 73 games in 2018-19 and averaged 10.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 41.5 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from beyond the arc and 74.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Dotson has career averages of 8.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists with the Knicks in 117 games. The most points he's scored in a game is 30.

The Knicks had the worst record in the NBA this season and they still weren't able to get the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. New York got the third pick. The New Orleans Pelicans will be selecting first overall and will likely take Duke star Zion Williamson.

Assuming Williamson goes first and Murray State point guard Ja Morant goes second to the Memphis Grizzlies, the Knicks could take RJ Barrett, DeAndre Hunter or Jarrett Culver with the third pick. There's also the possibility New York could trade the pick to the Pelicans for Anthony Davis.
