The New York Knicks have surged in recent games, now boasting a three-game win streak after taking down the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night, avenging their new coach David Fizdale in the process.

Fizdale spoke to the media on Tuesday, hoping they don't get their hopes up for the recent success, tempering expectations.

“You just try not to get seduced by our success,” said Fizdale with a slight grin prior to a matchup against the Detroit Pistons, according to Barbara Barker of Newsday. “Like I said, I don’t want our team to focus as much on the end result as much as what we did to get it.”

Despite Damyean Dotson's surprising performance to start out the season, the Knicks have opted to keep offseason acquisition Mario Hezonja in the starting lineup, despite scoring a mere seven points in the last three games. Fizdale didn't show any signs of yanking him from the starting lineup, using a rather simple approach: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

“He’s really competing defensively,” said Fizdale. “His size at that position has been helping us. But he really has been taking the challenge defensively for us.”

The Knicks have taken great strides as a team, but will likely face their share of bumps in the road with a young core and plenty of inexperience.

Recent wins against the Boston Celtics, New Orleans Pelicans and Grizzlies will serve as a confidence booster, but just like Fizdale, players must keep their eyes honed into the process itself, rather than the win-loss column.
