New York Knicks head coach David Fizdale was absolutely beaming on Sunday night as his team defeated the San Antonio Spurs, 130-118 in Madison Square Garden, and in the process, ending the Knicks' horrible 18-game home losing streak.
However, it was also revealed shortly after that there is one thing coach Fizdale is not happy about. According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the 49-year-old head honcho is not exactly pleased with how his team is forced to endure the gameday commute in the city.
According to sources, Fizdale believes the shootaround schlep does the franchise no favors. The team has its morning shoot in Tarrytown, then the Westchester residents have to battle the rush-hour commute to Manhattan.
Proximity-wise, Tarrytown and Manhattan are not exactly worlds apart – especially compared to the distances traveled by other teams in the same regard. However, nothing quite compares to downtown New York rush-hour traffic, so Fizdale absolutely has a point here.
Article Continues BelowSure, one can make the necessary adjustments in travel time, but simply put, there's just no getting used to the stress brought about by honking horns, irritated drivers, and straight up bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Unfortunately, this is what the players on the Knicks team have to go through every single game day, and surely, this must have some kind of effect on their mindset once they finally arrive in the arena.
Nonetheless, this issue did not appear to be a factor on Sunday, as the Knicks handily defeated a full-force Spurs squad. The victory means absolutely nothing in terms of their current win-loss record, but it is at least something to smile about for the Knicks supporters.
