It has been a surprising start to the season for the New York Knicks, who are currently riding a three-game winning streak after dropping the first three contests.

This has created a renewed sense of optimism around the team that was reverberated on Monday night through head coach Jeff Hornacek, while voicing that it is still an adjustment period for New York, according to Ian Begley of ESPN.

‘We always say it's not going to come right away,” said Hornacek, “This going to be a process throughout the whole year. We have great effort right now with the guys. They're listening. They're trying… I'm very happy with the way they've responded. 0-3 you can duck your head, but I think that says something about these guys. They kept working. I think they have the belief that we're going to get there.”

The expectations may be tempered for the Knicks, but the fact that they have been able to find some sort of early season success is a quite an encouraging sign. They have been able to beat a few formidable teams during the win streak that include taking down the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road in a convincing 114-95 win.

Third-year forward Kristaps Porzingis has continued to step up in a featuring role averaging 29.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game. This also includes scoring 30 or more points in five of the first six games of the season while notching a pair of double-doubles.

At least for the time being, the Knicks appear to be finally hedging in the right direction under Hornacek, with Porzingis leading the way offensively.
