When Mindaugas Kuzminskas performed well during the summer's EuroBasket competition, many believed he was geared for strong run in the NBA this season. However, he suffered a calf strain in the New York Knicks' training camp, which has cost him to sit out all their eight games so far.

The 28-year-old Lithuanian international has turned out to be a forgotten man in New York, and will need to compete for minutes once he recovers from his injury. Anticipating what their client will have to go through first before receiving enough playing time, it has been reported that Kuzminskas’ representatives are now trying to gauge interest for him around the league, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

“Kuzminskas, a 3-point shooter who heard chants of “Kuuuz’’ last season, has talked to his agent about his predicament. Sources indicated Kuzminskas’ reps were gauging interest around the NBA.”

Mindaugas Kuzminskas admitted that he is in a very difficult situation, as he may have lost the trust he earned from head coach Jeff Hornacek last season.

“It’s more a question for coach,’’ Kuzminskas said. “He sees me or doesn’t see me on the team. I was at all the practices at camp before I got hurt. I did all the training camp. You’d have to ask the coach if the injury affected it. Coach wants to win and he’s using players he trusts more, he thinks has more benefits than I can.’’

For now, the Knicks forward can only wait until he fully recovers, and prove to the team that he deserves to see a lot of court action. Should he struggle to find his form from last season, his days with the team could be numbered, starting with his minutes.
