New York Knicks incoming sophomore big man Mitchell Robinson has decided to switch it up a bit for the upcoming season. The 21-year-old has reportedly decided to change his jersey number to the No. 23 as he enters his second year in the league following a breakout rookie campaign.
The recent release of New York's Summer League roster revealed that Robinson has decided to swap his No. 26 for the coveted No. 23 shirt.

As we all know, the No. 23 is a pretty special number. Putting on this legendary jersey number — one that was immortalized by the great Michael Jordan — is a clear indication of confidence. If you pick the No. 23, then you better be sure that you have what it takes to wear this on your back.
Well, Robinson is obviously not short in confidence. As a matter of fact, in a recent tweet, the former second-round pick event went as far as declaring that he is capable of defending anybody in the league.

If this isn't confidence then I no longer know what is.
In his defense, Robinson had a tremendous debut season, averaging 7.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 2.4 blocks in just 20.6 minutes per contest. The blocks are definitely the statistic that stands out here, as this actually translates to a whopping 4.3 blocks per 36 minutes.
Given the right amount of playing time, Robinson could very well lead the league in blocks next season. This might just be the case following the departure of veteran big man DeAndre Jordan for the Brooklyn Nets. This opens up more playing time for Robinson, and he might just warrant a starting role in the coming season for the Knicks.
