The New York Knicks have been one of the worst teams in the NBA this year. After the trade of franchise star Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks decided to concentrate their efforts to rebuild.

Initially, the Knicks were trying to make a last-minute push for the postseason, but new franchise star Kristaps Porzingis tore his ACL and is now out for the entire season. This has effectively ended the Knicks' playoff hopes, which now allows the team to focus on building winning habits for next year.

Knicks GM Scott Perry has already gotten a headstart towards making the preparations to win for next season, per ESPN's Ian Begley.

NYK’s probably going to play younger players like Ntilikina, Burke, Mudiay, Dotson, Kornet & Hicks more often between now & the end of the year. After the Mudiay trade, GM Scott Perry was asked about the idea of giving younger players more minutes.
Emmanuel Mudiay is the Knicks' newest prize. Although he originally had problems in Denver, Mudiay is set to receive more minutes with the Knicks, as they try to incorporate more of their youth in their rotation.
Interestingly, the Knicks have officially reached rock bottom. This means that there's nowhere else for them to go down. Therefore, there has to be some optimism within the organization now that the team is moving forward with their young talent.
It will be interesting to see how the Knicks improve with this new strategy. Hopefully, they can begin to climb the Eastern Conference standings and make progress next year.
