The New York Knicks have made a last-minute addition before the last third of the season gets underway, signing guard John Jenkins to a two-year deal, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Jenkins was previously with the Washington Wizards on a 10-day contract and was acquired by New York in the same structural basis, getting two games at the NBA level to prove his mettle.

The 27-year-old guard scored seven points in nine minutes in his team debut and put up a formidable 14 points, five rebounds, and two assists in a win over the Atlanta Hawks right before the All-Star break, solidifying his spot on the roster.

Jenkins played the first three seasons of his NBA career with the Hawks, but then bounced around to the Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, back to the Hawks, and even overseas, signing with a Spanish team in the Liga ACB.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard was acquired by the Westchester Knicks of the G League twice, first in 2017 and most-recently in October 2018, making him plenty familiar with New York.

Jenkins will likely have to carve out time behind Allonzo Trier and Damyean Dotson at the off-guard position, a tall task in most situation, but viable in New York, given the direction they're headed, boasting the second-worst record in the league at 11-47.
