The New York Knicks have not had any internal discussions about a potential trade for Washington Wizards All-Star point guard John Wall, according to Ian Begley of ESPN.
The New York Post reported earlier this week that people around the league believe the Knicks are stockpiling assets to trade for Wall.
Knicks haven’t had any internal discussions about a potential trade for John Wall; a report earlier said there was belief around the NBA that NYK would make a significant push for a Wall deal. Also, teams are interested in Damyean Dotson, but BK & DET haven’t reached out to NYK.

Last year, John Wall signed a $170 million contract extension, which starts in 2019 with the Wizards. There has been talk around the league that the Wizards could trade Wall if a good deal came on the table. Washington has gotten off to a poor start to the season and the locker room appears to be dysfunctional again.
The Knicks are looking to pair star power forward Kristaps Porzingis with a superstar player so that the franchise can make a playoff run in the Eastern Conference. Acquiring John Wall, though, doesn't seem like a smart move. The explosive guard is going to be making over $40 million per season starting next year. He's no doubt a good player, but not worth that much money.
Also, the Knicks don't really have any assets to send Washington for John Wall. They're not going to trade Kevin Knox. Porzingis is obviously off limits. Frank Ntilikina really doesn't have any trade value right now since he has regressed in just his second season in the NBA. New York should look to acquire a low-maintenance point guard instead of a player like Wall.
