The New York Knicks have had their share of bad luck over the past several years with unfortunate injuries to superstars and player acquisitions that didn't pan out. The Knicks will look to bounce back this year and give the fans a long-awaited seat in the postseason.

But the Knicks' true worth will be tested in a certain portion of the season when they will face ten playoff-contending teams in twelve games.

Brian Lewis of the New York Post wrote:

“That noon game tips off a stretch of 12 games in which the Knicks will face 10 foes that made the playoffs last season. The two that missed? Jan. 1 at Denver and three days later at the Lakers. But the Lakers added LeBron James and are projected to be a Western Conference contender, with the Nuggets close behind.”

The Knicks were selected yet again to play in this season's annual Christmas Day games. They will be up against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in that festive day that Knicks fans hope would turn out even more festive for the team.

That will be the start of a brutal string of games for the Knicks as they will face last year's playoff teams namely the Utah Jazz, Portland Trail Blazers, Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers, Washington Wizards, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, and defending champs Golden State Warriors. The up-and-coming Denver Nuggets led by the brilliant all-around play of Nikola Jokic will also be waiting for them, along with the new-look LeBron James-led Los Angeles Lakers.

That's a twelve-game span that will test the team's mettle and how the current roster will effectively jell with each other. Barring any trades, the Knicks are hoping that Porzingis will have an early timetable for a return from his season-ending ACL injury. The versatile 7-foot-3 Latvian center had a breakout season last year as he averaged 22.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.4 blocks, and shot 39 percent from deep per game.

The team will also look to rely on sophomore Frank Ntilikina and recent top draft pick Kevin Knox.
