Kyrie Irving‘s days in a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey are likely counted and while the team isn't obligated to trade him or to address his preferred destination spots, the All-Star point guard seems to have a favorite in mind.
ESPN's Pablo Torre asserted that Irving's number one preference is the New York Knicks.
“I got a phone call, and the voice on the other end of that phone call is a trustworthy person and he was saying to me that Kyrie Irving very badly wants to be a New York Knick,” said Torre in the set of ESPN's First Take. “Kyrie Irving wants to come home.”
Yet the New York journalist warned against that career-steering decision.

“I get why Kyrie Irving wants to play in Madison Square Garden, I get that he wants to play there and drop all sorts of tremendous performances at MSG… but this is not the right move for that dude.”
Irving's main reason for leaving is wanting to be the star of his own show, but stepping into the Knicks franchise is going into an organization that has lacked direction, making this a much more difficult situation to handle than being a one-man show amid the dysfunction.
The Knicks have also been reluctant about involving their unicorn, Kristaps Porzingis, in any talks with the Cavaliers, making this an impasse, given Cleveland's lack of strong interest in Carmelo Anthony.
