The New York Knicks and Carmelo Anthony appear to be headed toward an eventual solution in their ongoing situation at some point this offseason with a trade to another team.

However, recently signed free agent guard Tim Hardaway Jr. is hoping that the Knicks decide instead to keep the 10-time All-Star in the fold next season, according to Ian Begley of ESPN.

The 33-year-old has continued to voice a desire to remain with the Knicks throughout the entire process, but the persistent dysfunction around the franchise it has created much instability and certainty about what may lie ahead. The firing of Phil Jackson was a step in the right direction toward getting things back in order, but parting ways with Anthony appears to be inevitable.

The Knicks have struggled to win with him at the focal point of the team failing to make the playoffs in four consecutive seasons. This along with the emergence of Kristaps Porzingis as the possible next face of the franchise is pushing the team to further consider moving on from Anthony.

He is still an elite player in the league coming off yet another productive campaign where he averaged 22.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Anthony has plenty to offer despite heading into his 15th season, and his current situation with the Knicks isn't truly allowing him to do so.
