Nikola Jokic didn’t score a single point on only three shot attempts in the Denver Nuggets’ 96-79 win over the Sacramento Kings. Through two games, the Nuggets’ star big man now has just seven points on 3-of-13 shooting from the field, sparking talk of a possible slump.

Jokic isn’t worried about any slump, though. In fact, Jokic joked that he’d be ready to score 87 points against the Washington Wizards for the benefit of disgruntled fantasy owners, according to Denver Stiffs’ Adam Mares.

While Jokic hasn’t been looking to get his own points through the first two games of the season, he has still been contributing in other facets of the game. He’s averaging 10.5 rebounds and dishing off 7.5 assists.

The Nuggets are still going through a bit of an adjustment phase as they try to integrate newcomer Paul Millsap into their offense. Millsap has been one of the team’s leaders in points and shot attempts in each of his first two games, with the team likely looking to get him going.

Nikola Jokic isn’t the most aggressive player in terms of getting his shots up; he finished third on the team in shot attempts last season despite being its best player. But his brilliance lies in his passing ability, which allows him to influence the game even without scoring.

Jokic knows how to put the ball in the basket as well, and should be more assertive when the team needs him to be more of a scorer later in the season.
