Few analysts are as streaky with their takes as Colin Cowherd. On Tuesday’s episode of The Herd, Colin broke down his list of top 10 players this season and put Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George on top of that list.

There are plenty of reasons to consider this claim to be viable, though. OKC is currently third in the Western Conference with a 39-24 record, much due to George’s incredible play this season.

In his ninth year, George is putting up career highs across the board, averaging 28.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game. The 28-year-old forward is also sinking almost four triples a game at 39.8 percent while shooting 44.8 percent overall. He leads the league in steals and is second in points per game.

It seems that much of his praise of George’s season, however, comes from his religious indignation of Russell Westbrook. Multiple times during the segment, Cowherd justified placing Paul George at the top of this list because he put up these numbers while also playing alongside Westbrook.

While the face of the Thunder franchise may have a history of ball dominance and acting out of self-interest, it is obvious that Russell has made adjustments to his game this season to allow George to flourish.

Cowherd would make his way down the list placing Giannis Antetokounmpo at second. He made many decent points regarding the on/off numbers and Milwaukee’s success without Giannis in the lineup, but it is hard to argue that Antetokounmpo is having a miraculous season and possibly the best player in the game for the 2018-19 regular season.
