The Oklahoma City Thunder are staying active this offseason. After moving Carmelo Anthony's contract off the books by shipping him off to Atlanta, the team is sending another player to the Eastern Conference.
According to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, the Thunder are trading Dakari Johnson to the Orlando Magic for Rodney Purvis.
Charania also reports that Purvis will be on a non-guaranteed minimum contract next season, while Johnson brings a salary of $1.4 million in guaranteed money.
Johnson and Purvis alike have little experience at the NBA level. Johnson only played 31 games in his career and Purvis only played 16 during his rookie campaign. Both saw significant time at the G League level last season.

Johnson averaged 16.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game across three seasons for the Oklahoma City Blue in the G League. Purvis averaged 20.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game for the Lakeland Magic last season.
For the Thunder, they get to shave more money off their payroll. Purvis' non-guaranteed deal comes with no risk. After only playing 31 games in three years, Johnson didn't figure into the long-term plans of Oklahoma City.
For the Magic, Johnson will join a crowded frontcourt. Nikola Vucevic, Mo Bamba, Aaron Gordan, and Jonathan Isaac all expect to see major minutes. It's unclear how and when Johnson will see any time on the court with those four ahead on the depth chart. Perhaps, the Magic aren't done wheeling and dealing.
