Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Billy Donovan announced the return of Paul George to the lineup Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks after a one-game absence due to a quad injury, according to Erik Horne of The Oklahoman.

George missed Friday night's 118-102 victory over the Phoenix Suns with his injury. Clearly, the quad issue wasn't all that serious given the 28-year-old is ready to go for Sunday's game.

The 6-foot-9 forward is having a career season in Oklahoma City. George is averaging 26.3 points, 8.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 35.4 minutes per game. He's shooting 45.2 percent overall and 39.0 percent on 3-pointers.

George's incredible campaign has him in the MVP conversation as the Thunder vie for the top spot in the Western Conference. Oklahoma City sits at 22-12 on the season, which is just one game behind the top-seeded Denver Nuggets. The Golden State Warriors sit between the Nuggets and Thunder.

The Mavs are currently out of the playoff picture at 16-18, but they've taken a step forward this season thanks to rookie phenom Luka Doncic. The Rookie of the Year favorite is coming off one of the best games of his young career, and Paul George will likely draw that assignment at some point in Sunday's showdown.
