It has been nearly a month since the Oklahoma City Thunder lost Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to an ankle injury. It is now being reported, however, that the 23-year-old is now set to return to action for the Thunder.

OKC head coach Mark Daigneault confirmed on Wednesday that SGA has recovered from his right ankle sprain and is now going to suit up for Thursday's bout against the Phoenix Suns(h/t Joe Mussato of Oklahoman Sports):

This is great news for the Thunder, who went 4-6 without their star guard. At 18-40, OKC currently ranks second-worst in the Western Conference, ahead of only the Houston Rockets.

Nevertheless, the Thunder will be glad to get Gilgeous-Alexander back in their lineup as the team looks to get as many reps in for this young and highly-promising lineup. Rookie Josh Giddey has been looking outstanding of late, and OKC's front office will want to assess if an SGA-Giddey backcourt pairing would be something they would want to commit to long-term.

It remains to be seen if Shai will be on some sort of minutes limit once he returns, but given how he's just 23, odds are he will get his usual load sooner rather than later. In 43 games played this season, SGA has averaged 22.7 points on 42.4 percent shooting, 4.7 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.1 steals, while also connecting on 1.6 triples per game.
