Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams and star point guard Russell Westbrook have been teammates since 2013 and are very close off the court. Adams is always looking out for his MVP. Just recently against the Sacramento Kings, Adams protected Westbrook against Kings big man Willie Cauley-Stein, who got into an altercation with Westbrook in Sacramento.

Since Steven Adams and Russell Westbrook are good friends, it appears Adams has the luxury of being able to call Westbrook by a funny nickname he came up with.

Interesting nickname by Adams. The 25-year-old from New Zealand is probably the only player on the Thunder who can get away with calling Westbrook that.

After starting the season 0-4, the Thunder are now 11-6 on the year, third place in the Western Conference. Both Adams and Westbrook are putting up strong numbers early in the year. Adams is averaging 15.9 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 61.8 percent from the field and 54.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Westbrook, meanwhile, is averaging 23.9 points, 9.1 rebounds and 9.1 assists. The seven-time All-Star is shooting 47.5 percent from the floor, 20.0 percent from the 3-point line and 60.7 percent from the charity stripe. Westbrook missed the first two games of the season recovering from his offseason knee injury, and then missed six games in a row after spraining his left ankle against the New Orleans Pelicans.
