Rajon Rondo strung together a career-best performance against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night after tallying a career and New Orleans Pelicans' high mark of 25 assists in a single game.
Following the contest, All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins voiced much praise toward Rondo's huge outing while also indicating that he believes the 31-year-old could have surpassed Scott Skiles NBA record with 30 assists.
Cousins joked Rondo should have had 30 plus assists if Boogie hadn’t missed a couple shots and AD “tripped on some layups” 😂😂😂 https://t.co/NWL9UHljIH

“I feel kind of bad because I blew a couple of shots. I didn't realize it until I got to the bench the number of assists he had. I think I missed a shot on what was supposed to his 20(th). He could have had 30. You know AD tripped on some layups. He could have easily had 30, 30-plus. Congrats but I feel bad at the same time.”
It was a performance that Rondo was finding all of his teammates in scoring opportunities that they continually converted. Although it is easy to look back at the shots that were missed, it is still an impressive feat by Rondo being the oldest player in league history to reach that feat.
He also reached that feat in the fewest amount of time in 30 minutes played while his two points scored were the lowest for any player that recorded at least 25 assists in a single game. On top of that, this was a mark that had not been reached since Jason Kidd did so in 1996.
Rondo will l0ok to build on that career performance on Friday night when the Pelicans take on the Dallas Mavericks.
