Carson Wentz and Ben Simmons were once the talks of Philadelphia. Both established themselves as young stars that could become sports legends. By 2019, they were widely supported and were seen as the future of the Philadelphia Eagles and Sixers, respectively.

Three years later, they are both among the biggest sports villains in the city. Their respective exits from Philly were messy and dramatic.

Wentz flopped horribly in the 2020 season. He quickly became intolerable and borderline unplayable after the Eagles picked Jalen Hurts in the draft. The Eagles traded him that offseason to the Indianapolis Colts, who dealt him to the Washington Commanders after just one season.

Simmons played poorly in the Sixers' upset loss to the Atlanta Hawks in the 2021 playoffs and then completely distanced himself from the team. His inability to improve his game in key aspects like free-throw shooting limited the Sixers' ceiling, even with Joel Embiid establishing himself as a bonafide MVP candidate. His refusal to play led to a trade to the Brooklyn Nets.

In 2016, CBS Sports' Michael Kaskey-Blomain tweeted a quote from Simmons, who said that he wants to take after one of Wentz's traits. The trait he ended up taking was that of a scorned star that Philly fans will boo incessantly.

Not only do Philadelphia fans get to boo them but they will see them frequently. The Commanders are NFC East rivals with the Eagles while the Nets reside in the Atlantic Division with the Sixers.

With Simmons set to face the Philadelphia crowd tomorrow as the Nets take on the Sixers (he won't play but will be in attendance) and Wentz set to face Philadelphia whenever Washington visits the Eagles next season, the Philadelphia fans watching will root for their team to demolish the player that they once adored.
