Most of the time, numbers help put things in perspective.
However, you probably don't need their help to realize that Russell Westbrook is really good at basketball and the Philadelphia 76ers have been really bad as a team.
But here's one stat that may blow your mind when comparing the two, courtesy of Redditor callipygian_idealist.
Over the last two seasons…
Russell Westbrook triple-doubles: 29
Philadelphia 76ers wins: 28
Let that one sink in.
Article Continues BelowTo be fair, Westbrook is trying to get a triple-double basically every night while the 76ers are trying to lose games on purpose. But still, this is something that just should never happen in the NBA these days.
Westbrook has emerged as a triple-double machine the last two years and it started to really rev up when Kevin Durant was injured two seasons ago. The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar was asked to do more than ever and he tried exactly that. He led the league in scoring, was right up there in assists, and became the best rebounding guard in the league.
It did feel like, from time to time, he was hunting for that statistical trifecta, prioritizing it above the game, but that never got in the way of winning. The best part of this development in Westbrook's game has been his passing and playmaking.
We may be in store for more Russell Westbrook triple-doubles, now more than ever, with Durant gone, but the 76ers should also be on their way up after picking Ben Simmons with the top overall selection in the 2016 NBA Draft.
Either way, this is now something to keep an eye on next season.
