Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown noted there are “some changes” planned after getting smoked by the Toronto Raptors in Game 5 on Tuesday. Yet the coach made sure to point out his team won't lay down with the Raptors up 3-2 in the series.
“The notion that you’re down and out isn’t a part of our mindset,” said Brown, according to Tom Moore of the Bucks County Courier Times. “We just have to do what we do better. There will be some changes’ for Game 6.”
Yet the coach won't dismiss a 36-point spanking from Tuesday or why it happened.
“We will hold our guys together and hold people accountable,” said Brown, according to Serena Winters of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “The complete belief that we have what we need to get it done. Everyone is excited to get to play again and play here in Philadelphia.”
Three things hurt the Sixers on Tuesday: 3-point shooting, free-throw attempts and you guessed it — turnovers.
Article Continues BelowJoel Embiid accounted by eight of the team's 19 turnovers all by his lonesome, but Ben Simmons himself wasn't very productive, coughing up the ball five times while only logging four assists.
Three of the Raptors starters shot eight or more free throws in the game, as Kyle Lowry, Pascal Siakam and Kawhi Leonard feasted at the charity stripe, converting a combined 23-of-26 from the foul line between them.
The Sixers also went cold from deep (6-of-24), while keeping the Raptors from hurting them where they can, allowing them a 16-of-40 shooting night from beyond the arc.
On free throws and threes alone, the Raptors had a plus-42 differential on the Sixers — those two will be surely areas that Brown will address if the Sixers are to win at home on Thursday and force a Game 7 in Toronto.
