Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers addressed the team’s trade deadline moves ahead of their game versus the New York Knicks on Sunday. Rivers, who was hired as the Sixers head coach last off season, gave a really good response to the reporters as he stressed on being content with his team’s current roster. The coach also mentioned that the best move the Sixers could hope for right now is getting their superstar and MVP candidate Joel Embiid back on the court.
Doc Rivers on possible trades:
“I like our team. If we make a move, great. If we don’t, I love our team.”
He also says there’s no better move the #Sixers can make than getting Joel Embiid back on the floor.

True enough, Rivers should be pleased with this team. They’re currently winning games so far with their superstar sidelined with a knee injury. The Sixers also hold first place in the Eastern Conference standings, which they’ve been at throughout the season. Rivers has also had good production from his superstars as Ben Simmons is having a good season so far as well. Simmons is averaging 15.9 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7 assists per game. Embiid meanwhile was averaging 29.9 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists before injuring his knee. This shows how much progress the Sixers have made with Rivers on the helm of the team.
Article Continues BelowThe Sixers were involved in a couple of trade rumors early in the season. The most prominent one was when they offered Simmons for James Harden, who is now suiting up for the Nets. Weeks after failing to acquire Harden, the Sixers were rumored to be interested in Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry but there hasn’t been progress since.
With Embiid out, the Sixers hope to continue their winning streak. They had an impressive game versus the Sacramento Kings yesterday who they defeated without Simmons as well. Tobias Harris, Danny Green and Shake Milton have carried the scoring load for the team thus far.
