Thursday night's much-anticipated matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets was supposed to be James Harden's night. After asking to be traded from Brooklyn, this game was supposed to be him proving to Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving that they needed him. It was going to be his redemption game.

Unfortunately… things didn't go that well for the Sixers star. James Harden turned in a Russell Westbrook-esque performance (in a bad way) with 11 points on 3-of-17 shooting and a putrid 0-of-10 from within the three-point line. Only Harden and Westbrook shot 0-of-10 from the two-point zone this season. (via ESPN Stats and Info)

Nothing went right for the Sixers this game, as they got beaten handily by the Nets. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were their usual spectacular selves, but another former Philly guy in Seth Curry became the difference-make for the team. Curry's 22 points were the dagger that killed the home team.

Harden surpassing Reggie Miller in the three-point leaderboard was the only good thing that happened to the Sixers star tonight. Against a surprisingly stingy defense, the former MVP could do nothing. However, the good news for Philly fans is that this game could be an aberration. Unlike Westbrook, Harden is historically a good finisher at the rim.

Despite the loss, there's still plenty to be excited about for Sixers fans. Harden and Embiid have had great chemistry together, excluding this dud against the Nets. If they are able to learn their lesson from this game, this could be a great teaching experience for them.
