James Harden needed just one assist to break his tie with Kobe Bryant for the sole possession of the 32nd spot on the all-time assists list. On Sunday against the Phoenix Suns, the Philadelphia 76ers star made sure to claim that record.

Harden and Bryant were both at 6,306 career assists after the Sixers guard matched it with seven dimes against the Los Angeles Clipper on Friday. It didn't take long for The Beard to record the one assist he needed on Sunday, dishing a pass to Joel Embiid for a cutting layup early in the first quarter.

Unfortunately for James Harden and the Sixers, they lost to the Suns in a highly contested affair. The 32-year-old scorer finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, but his all-around effort was not enough to push them past the red-hot Phoenix squad led by Devin Booker and Chris Paul.

Still, Harden will definitely feel honored to surpass a legend like Kobe Bryant. The late Los Angeles Lakers icon was well-loved and respected in the NBA being one of its greatest players, and it is certainly a good thing every time one is mentioned alongside him.

Harden has another former Lakers star in Norm Nixon next on the all-time assists list. Nixon recorded 6,386 dimes throughout his career–numbers that the Sixers star guard can definitely surpass in their remaining games if he continues to average his usual assist numbers.
