Philadelphia 76ers star forward Jimmy Butler suffered a groin injury in the middle of the team's game against the Detroit Pistons and won't return, per Serena Winters of NBCS Philly.

Butler left during the second quarter of their game against the Pistons Monday due to a strained groin. The 76ers medical staff have yet to release an official statement so stay tuned for an update.

Through his first 12 games as a member of the 76ers, Butler is averaging 21.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists. Initially, many believed that Butler has smoothly acclimated to his new surroundings.

However, Butler's presence has led to offensive struggles by Joel Embiid — who's been directed by coach Brett Brown to camp around the perimeter instead of his initial role of bullying defenders in the paint.

It'll be tough for Brown to make ample adjustments. They may be getting the wins due to Butler, but Embiid — one of his best players, is not too happy with his new role.

Despite losing Butler, the Sixers took care of the Pistons in what was a close game for most of the night.

If Butler's injury turns out to be a serious one, the 76ers may need to recalibrate their roster. They simply can't play the way that they used before the Butler trade, being that they gave up their key players in Dario Saric and Robert Covington.
