With just over one month left of games in the 2017-18 NBA regular season, the Philadelphia 76ers (35-28) currently find themselves as the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference. In a video posted to Twitter on Thursday afternoon by Sixers beat reporter Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sixers star center Joel Embiid admitted that he frequently looks at the standings to see how the other teams stack up to Philly.
“Literally every day. Especially the guys that are in the playoff race with us as far as seedings. You've got Detroit that's still in there. After every day's game, you go look to see where you are, if you dropped or if you went up because a team lost. It happens every day,” Embiid said.
The Sixers can make a serious run during these last 19 games on their schedule, as the separation between the No. 3 seed and the No. 8 seed is only 4.5 games in a highly-competitive Eastern Conference playoff race.

Philadelphia is fresh off of Tuesday's 128-114 smackdown of the Charlotte Hornets on the road, which had all five of the Sixers' starters scoring in double figures and the team shooting an impressive 16-of-33 from behind the arc.
In a game that will definitely have an impact on the Eastern Conference standings, Philly will take on the Miami Heat (34-31) later tonight at AmericanAirlines Arena. They will have a shot at redemption for their last-second 102-101 loss in Miami that closed out the month of February.
Ultimately, Embiid and the Sixers control their own destiny and are fully capable of doing some serious damage in the playoffs.
