Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid has two Flagrant 1 fouls. According to NBA rules, four flagrant foul points equate to an automatic one-game suspension. Embiid, however, is not concerned.

He still believes the second flagrant foul tagged on him was the wrong call.

“I’ve just got to play basketball,” he said after Monday’s practice. “If it happens, it happens. Like I said, I’m mature. I know what I am doing, although the last [flagrant foul 1], I don’t even know if it was a foul. I felt like I got all ball.”

Both of Embiid's flagrant fouls involved Jarrett Allen of the Brooklyn Nets. The first one was in Game 2 when Embiid landed a sharp elbow right up Allen's chin as he drove to the hoop. In a postgame interview, Joel Embiid claimed the elbow wasn't intentional.

Below is his second flagrant foul. This time, it came on the defensive end. Joel Embiid had his view of the play. Analysts and fans also believe that he got all ball. But the referees saw otherwise.

The 25-year-old Cameroonian certainly has to tone down his aggression. As the 76ers go deeper into the playoffs and face much stronger teams, they will need Joel Embiid more than ever. They cannot afford to lose him even for one game. The 76ers are very likely to face the Toronto Raptors in the second round of the playoffs. The Raptors will provide a level of depth and defensive acumen the Brooklyn Nets can't currently match.

Philadelphia's Embiid-free sequences in the Nets series weren't punished severely. Toronto would likely do a lot more damage to the 76ers if Embiid isn't around.
