Joel Embiid's vow to keep himself from trash talking lasted all but three regular-season games, as the Philadelphia 76ers big man couldn't help himself but to take to social media and continue his tiff with Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns. The two centers were ejected in the first half of Thursday's game after things got very physical between them, kickstarting a melee at the Wells Fargo Center.

Embiid continued the fight on social media after the game, prompting a response from Towns. Embiid, of course, wouldn't let that slide and fired back with a response of his own on Instagram, which he screencapped for Twitter while claiming Towns had hidden or deleted his comment:

Embiid went all out in his response, even insinuating he knows about Towns' true character and heard it from the horse's mouth after playing most of the 2018-19 season with Jimmy Butler.

Butler was the one who questioned the character of Towns and Andrew Wiggins, as well as their commitment to winning games, eventually forcing his way out of Minnesota and getting traded to the Sixers before departing this summer in a sign-and-trade to the Miami Heat.

There's no shortage of beef between Embiid and Towns it seems, two big men vying for the title of best center in the league and both out to a strong start to the season. Both centers are likely up for review by the league office, which can dole out a much steeper penalty for their involvement in this recent fight, not to mention the social media comments that now could force the NBA to issue a steeper suspension.
